On May 2, 2011, leaned from the relevant departments, Ministry of Land and Resources recently received a formal notice from World Geopark Experts Affairs of UNESCO officially notifying that Leiqiong Geopark successfully passed the mid-term evaluation of UNESCO, and highly praised by the world's geological experts.

　　On 21 to 24 July, 2010, experts from the Executive Board of Geopark of UNESCO carried out inspection and appraisal on Haikou Shishan Volcanic Cluster National Geopark and Zhanjiang Huguangyan National Geopark. On October 3, 2010, during the European Geoparks Network International Conference held in Mytilene, Lesvos Island, Greece, Global Geopark Experts Affairs discussed and voted on the assessment of Leiqiong Global Geopark. GGNO of Global Geopark stated their opinion that Leiqiong Global Geopark in China was in line with "green card" standard over the past four years in work. And it also has done an excellent job in terms of geological heritage protection, geo-tourism, scientific research and science education, and regional development, and so on. Leiqiong Global Geopark in China cooperated well with members of the network from home and abroad to promote development and establish a regular exchange.
