On July 21, 2011, in the company of the Chinese experts and concerning persons from the Land Resources and Environment Department of Hainan province and Haikou Municipal Government, two geological experts, Malizo Brando from Italy and Zaralamps Fasoulas from Greek, serving in Global Geological Park Executive Board of the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization, inspected carefully the development and construction status of the crater park.

　　The duration of the appraisal and inspection activity lasted four days. On the afternoon of 21st day of July, the two geological experts of The United Nations had already listened to the report. On 23rd and 24th day of July, Malizo Brando and Zaralamps Fasoulas would go to Zhanjiang Huguangyan Geopark for inspection. After the inspection, they made an objective appraisal report to the Leiqiong Geopark by scoring approach.  

　　On September 18, 2006, United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization held the 2nd Global Geopark Conference in North Ireland. Haikou Shishan Volcanic Cluster Geopark and Zhanjiang Huguangyan National Geopark jointly applied for global geopark. Haikou Shishan Volcanic Cluster Geopark was passed the assessment formally and listed as Leiqiong Global Geopark - P.R.China, one of the “Global Geopark Network”.

　　In accordance with the regulations of the Global Geopark Network, the members of network are appraised and inspected for every four years in terms of management, infrastructure construction, geological relics protection, promoting local tourism and economic development, development and the existing problems of geological Science education, so as to summarize improve and boost the healthy long-term development of Global Geopark.
